Would You want Brit McHenry to represent your Brand?

ESPN reporter Britt McHenry was recently suspended for a week after video surfaced of her berating a clerk who works for a towing company.
I’m in the news, sweetheart, I will (expletive) sue this place,” McHenry said in the video published online by LiveLeak.
“Yep, that’s all you care about, is just taking people’s money,” McHenry said. “With no education, no skillset, just wanted to clarify that. … Do you feel good about your job? So I could be a college dropout and do the same thing? Why, cause I have a brain and you don’t?”

McHenry was told that she was being video taped during the confrontation. McHenry later tweeted out an appology saying her emotions got the best of her.

The question is now, should Henry have been suspended by ESPN? Some would say that she should be fired.

We all have experienced situations which frustrate us, especially with service organizations. How many of you have had their luggage lost during an airline flight? How many have been issued a parking ticket after enjoying a night out? How many of you have been stranded because the public transportation system has shut down .. talk to the residents of Massachusetts on this one, after experiencing one storm after another.

The bottom line is McHenry was a bully, and there is no room anywhere for her type of behavior. We live in a world where there are cameras everywhere we go, which in itself a slippery slope. Nothing is private any longer.

ESPN has a brand to protect but McHenry wasn’t in a work situation, so does ESPN have the right to suspend her?

What do you think?
